The Jacksonville Beach (Ocean Rescue Lifeguards) Competition Team, are based in Jacksonville Beach, Florida, and are affiliated with the City of Jacksonville Beach and the American Red Cross Volunteer Lifesaving Corps, also in Jacksonville Beach. The team trains year round and competes in local, regional, national, and international competitions.
Competitive events include swimming, paddling rescue boards and surf skis, foot races, beach flags (think musical chairs in the sand), land line rescue, and boat races.
The team trains hard and often places high and wins against lifeguard agencies who draw from much larger pools of contestants. The team enjoys a high level of camaraderie among themselves and with other competitors.
